Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough

• 2 cups all-purpose flour

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• ½ teaspoon baking soda

• ¼ teaspoon salt

• ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

• ½ cup brown sugar

• ¼ cup granulated sugar

• 1 egg

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• ¼ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

For the Streusel Topping

• ¼ cup brown sugar

• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

• ¼ cup all-purpose flour

• 2 tablespoons butter

For the Glaze (Optional)

• ½ cup powdered sugar

• 1–2 tablespoons milk or cream

• ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

    2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, cinnamon, brown sugar, and butter until a crumbly mixture forms; set aside.

      3. Cream the softened butter and both sugars together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.

        4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and sour cream, then mix until smooth.

          5. Using another bowl, combine the flour with baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

            6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

              7. Scoop equal portions of dough onto the tray and lightly flatten each one.

                8. Generously top each cookie with the prepared streusel and press gently.

                  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.

                    10. Cool completely and drizzle with glaze before serving.

                      Notes

                      • Use room-temperature butter for a smooth and even dough.
                      • Mix just until combined to keep the cookies soft and tender.
                      • Chill the dough if it feels too sticky to handle.
                      • Press the streusel lightly so it stays in place while baking.
                      • Slightly underbake for a softer center.
                      • Let the cookies cool fully before glazing.
