Equipment

  • Small saucepan or tea pan
  • Knife or peeler
  • Grater (optional)
  • Strainer
  • Tea cup or mug
  • Spoon

Ingredients

• 1 to 2 inches fresh ginger root, thinly sliced or grated

• 2 cups water

• 1 teaspoon tea leaves or 1 tea bag (optional)

• 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or sugar, to taste

• 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

• 1 small cinnamon stick (optional)

• 1 to 2 cloves (optional)

• 1 pinch black pepper (optional)

• A few fresh mint leaves (optional)

• 3 to 4 Tulsi leaves (optional)

• 1 lightly crushed green cardamom pod (optional)

Instructions

1. Wash the ginger well, peel if desired, and slice, crush, or grate it for a stronger flavor.

    2. Add water to a small saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil over medium heat.

      3. Let the ginger simmer in the boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes until the flavor is deeply infused.

        4. If using, add tea leaves or a tea bag along with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, mint, or tulsi, and steep for 1-2 minutes.

          5. Turn off the heat and stir in honey or sugar until dissolved.

            6. Pour in fresh lemon juice just before serving for a bright, fresh finish.

              7. Strain the tea into a cup and serve it hot for the best taste and aroma.

                Notes

                • Fresh ginger gives the best flavor and natural warmth.
                • Grated ginger creates a stronger tea than sliced ginger.
                • Sweeten it according to your taste.
                • Add lemon only at the end for the freshest flavor.
                • Optional spices add extra aroma and a cozy feel to the tea.
                • Serve immediately while hot for the best experience.
                • Refrigerate the leftovers and gently warm before serving.
