Ingredients
  

• Whole wheat flour – 1 ½ cups

• Baking powder – 1 teaspoon

• Baking soda – ½ teaspoon

• Salt – ¼ teaspoon

• Cinnamon – ½ teaspoon (optional)

• Eggs – 2 large

• Honey or maple syrup – ½ cup

• Greek yogurt or applesauce – ½ cup

• Milk or plant-based milk – ¼ cup

• Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon

• Dark chocolate chips – ¾ cup

Instructions
 

1. Bring the oven to 350°F and line a muffin pan.

    2. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.

      3. Mix the wet ingredients in a different bowl until smooth.

        4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.

          5. Fold in chocolate chips.

            6. Fill muffin cups three-quarters full.

              7. Bake for 18–22 minutes until done.

                Notes

                1. Do not overmix the batter.
                2. Use room temperature ingredients.
                3. Dark chocolate chips work best.
                4. Adjust sweetness to taste.
                5. Add fruit or nuts if desired.
                6. Let muffins cool before storing.
                7. Freeze extras for later use.
