Ingredients
  

• 2 cups cooked lentils

• 1 small onion, finely chopped

• 2 garlic cloves, minced

• 1 small boiled potato, mashed

• 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

• 2 tbsp fresh parsley or coriander, chopped

• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

• 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

• 1/2 teaspoon paprika or chili flakes

• Salt to taste

• 2 tablespoons of oil for cooking

• 4 burger buns

• Lettuce leaves

• Tomato slices

• Onion slices

• Burger sauce or mayonnaise

Instructions
 

1. Add the cooked lentils to a bowl and mash them lightly, keeping a little texture for a hearty bite.

    2. Mix in the chopped onion, garlic, mashed potato, breadcrumbs, herbs, and seasonings until well combined.

      3. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into a round burger patty.

        4. Let the patties rest for a few minutes so they firm up and hold their shape better.

          5. Heat oil in a pan and cook the patties over medium heat until they turn golden brown on both sides.

            6. Lightly toast the burger buns and place the cooked patties inside with lettuce, tomato, onion, and sauce.

              7. Serve warm and enjoy immediately.

                Notes

                • Drain the lentils well before using to avoid excess moisture.
                • Do not over-mash the lentils; some texture gives a better bite.
                • Letting the patties chill before cooking helps keep them firm.
                • You can replace breadcrumbs with oats for a healthier option.
                • Add extra herbs or spices to adjust the flavor to your taste.
